HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM CAMBODIA!

Happy New Year to you all!  We are now in Cambodia….the internet at our hotel is not the greatest so the blog is going to suffer!

For New Year's Eve we went out for dinner and enjoyed an Apsara Dance show - part of the Khmer culture…very beautiful!  Afterwards we walked to 'Pub Street' for the New Year's Eve celebration…I think the name of the street says it all….it was one big mosh pit!!! The girls really enjoyed themselves…by 10 pm my hair was crusty….ahhh, I love the spray of beer….we (the adults) moved to higher grounds for the count-down!  Who knew Cambodia could really rock New Years??

Pub Street
Dom having a good time!
At this point we could no longer move so we went to higher grounds
and the girls down below somewhere in that hot mess!

Once the countdown was over it was time to bolt….Marc kissed a french man on both cheeks before he  even kissed me!  Ok, ok, well maybe the french man kissed him first but they shared a moment together!  OHHH, how sweet!

Happy New Year!

Secluded Beach during the Christmas Season?

Hellz yeah again….and I have the proof!!!!  Ok, ok, so the beach wasn’t ours for the entire day but it was ours for a moment in time.

For those of you who have ever travelled during the Christmas break know that the beaches will be busy….the  lounge chairs come out, the umbrella’s go up, then you get your typical Sven's and Anika’s that talk so loud you can hear them a mile away…..so unless you have your own private island or you own a boat to go to one of the 50 islands around Koh Chang chances are  it’s not going to happen!  I didn’t let that deter us and we set out trying to find one.
hmmm? I think we should go check it out
 not too bad..it's doable!
Found the beach but not secluded…a small bungalow resort…a couple people there but worth checking out :)
 one big swimming pool!
selfie!

Stayed and enjoyed a beer and a dip and then moved along to our next….'Long Beach'.  I figured we wouldn't be the only one's there but I was still curious.  Once again the roads are brutal but that's ok…we're in Thailand…a minor hiccup in the road…..

Long Beach - not too many peeps!
Great beach for the Tree House guests!

And lastly….'Wai Chaek Beach'….our moment in time!
 Looking good and empty!
Setting up shop under the tree! Half sun, half shade (for the whitey's)
 YES!  Loving it!

And for the proof……

Rambo bared his balls!!!!!

Enjoy!

Does cheap Thailand still exist?

Hellz Yeah!!!  For those of you who are Queens and Princesses read no further… .but.….for those of you who are one with nature, tree hugger, granola, preservationist, animal shagger, physisaphile, nature nut, dirty hippie, I could go on and on but you get my drift and looking to spend $300 a month on accommodations I found your place!
So, while we were out riding and minding our own business, in search of the perfect 'non-tourist' beach we rolled up to the 'Tree House' at the other end of the island (no moped, no get there).  Well, I could no longer mind my own business so I politely asked if I could look at the nice Brits accommodations and of course I also needed to know how much he paid a night…..the nice Brit replied, "5 pounds a night" (9$ Cdn for the waterfront ones)!  "WONDERFUL", I said, thinking 'for the blog'.  The Tree House has just re-opened after renovating their rooms….new bungalows, new mattresses and new mosquito nets…now keep in mind, there is no A/C, no electricity inside, no showers and of course, no toilet…..have no fear, they do have those on the property!
Water front huts - not bad!

Back huts…$1.50 cheaper - decent!

Arriving to TreeHouse - nice new paved stairs!

Showers…well not your typical showers….cold water and buckets! Yikes!

Toilet…a.k.a Squatter (my fave)…F@#%* that, I'm out!!!

And yes, we did find somewhat of a non-tourist beach here!  As long as the road stays in rough shape this place will stay quiet and peaceful!
part of the roads to Tree House - good times when riding bitch!

Welcome to Koh Chang

After a 6 hour private transfer drive from Bangkok we arrived on the island of Koh Chang…located in Eastern Thailand.  In reality it is probably only a 4 hour transfer but our driver made quite a few stops.  Checked in at Baan Rim Nam where we will be staying for 8 nights before moving along to Cambodia.  Baan Rim Nam is a 5 room Guesthouse located on a quiet river on the west coast of Koh Chang.  This once fisherman's house is built on stilts over the river in the mangroves…..very quiet and peaceful…so quiet that we can here Rosalie coughing 2 doors over….or maybe the walls are just paper thin? No big plans for Koh Chang other than beaching it and exploring the island.
Arriving via ferry

Arriving at our lovely guesthouse
the walk-way up to the guesthouse…caution: dangerous when drunk

One night in Bangkok!

Stayed just one night in Bangkok before continuing our journey to the island of Koh Chang.  Did a little shopping, then some shopping, and stopped for more shopping and ended with shopping!

The infamous MBK mall
Asiatique Night Market…along the river….nice but not for us!

so we left and went to Patpong Night Market….
where Rosalie managed to buy something for her sister!

Rosalie loves riding up front with the Tuk Tuk drivers…but be sure to hold on to your panties when driving with these guys in Bangkok! Whoohoo!

It was a 'sheet our drawers' kinda moment when we almost hit the car stopped on the road!

Next stop…..Koh Chang, Trat, Thailand!
