I arrived in Bangkok early Saturday morning where I joined the girls (Nikki, Doms and Makayla also known as McCaca). We had a couple days together then the girls were heading back home. Nikki and I were flying to Vientiane, Laos for the night before going to VANG VIANG for 3 nights via shared van. Vientiane was pretty and we stayed along the Mekong River. We visited Buddha Park briefly during the day. There's not much going on there as the city is pretty laid back. It was a little tricky to figure out the currency and exchange rates. For you Trivia lovers, the kip is the Laos currency and the ballpark exchange rate currently sits at approximately $1.00 CDN : 6200 Kip soooooo everything sounds so expense and you walk around with a bunch of 50,000.00 and 100,000.00 bills in your pocket but really it ain't much.

On our way to VV......picked up at our hotel at 7am and made the milk run picking up a few other people. Once at the bus terminal we were directed to a mini van while the others went to their respective vans or bus. We sat in the van and were happy nobody was in there so we took the best 2 seats behind the driver. We waited a while and people started to pile up in there. By the time we left, this whip was packed with 16 of us including the driver. We had two Monks riding shotgun with the driver and a mix of locals, tourists and the driver's wife who was running the show in the back of the bus. It was jammed packed but the driver's wife was still opening her window every couple block asking locals if they needed a ride to Vang Viang. Eventually we commenced our 3 hour drive to Vang Viang.
