After the silk farm we decided to go to the Landmine Museum (approx 30 kms outside of Siem Reap). We loved the drive as we got to see quite a bit of the country side. The museum is very small with little advertising, founded by an ex-child soldier 'Aki Ra'. Throughout the museum he shares his stories as a 10 year old fighter in the Khmer Rouge to present day. In the early 90's he was involved with the UN in helping clear landmines from Angkor Wat. While clearing he also started to bring home orphaned and injured children and raised them with his family. Today, they care for children with a variety of difficulties, not just landmine victims.
